Albert Lo is a Financial Advisory Consultant with over 25 years of multifaceted international experience across banking, technology, credit infrastructure, capital markets and corporate strategy. His career spans global financial institutions, financial infrastructure development, fintech innovation and C-suite advisory, positioning him exceptionally well to serve high-net-worth individuals, family offices and corporates seeking to establish and manage business and personal wealth across Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific.
Albert’s financial career was forged at HSBC, where he held progressively senior roles across Asia Pacific and Europe, including Vice President positions in the Asia Pacific Risk Department and Global Markets. During his tenure, he led regional decision analysis teams and, in 2005, pioneered the establishment of HSBC’s Decision Science and Rating Team in Shanghai, introducing big data and quantitative modelling into credit decision-making and Basel compliance. He also founded HSBC’s Asia Pacific Decision Analytics Centre in Shanghai, which continues to support model development across the bank’s Asian operations.
Albert played a key role in expanding HSBC’s operations into Central Europe, building credit and risk infrastructure for newly established banks in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland from the ground up. He later joined the Global Markets Department, overseeing financing, foreign exchange, interest rate management and investment solutions for the bank’s top 1,000 clients worldwide.
As Associate Director in Global Banking and Markets, Albert advised major corporate clients including Li & Fung, MTR Corporation, Airport Authority Hong Kong, Huawei, as well as multinational groups such as Mitsubishi and WPP. His work covered treasury management, foreign exchange, interest rate hedging and investment strategies. He also established treasury advisory functions for three generations of traditional Hong Kong family offices, gaining deep insight into the complexities of managing multi-jurisdictional wealth and family assets.
Beyond banking, Albert is widely recognised as a financial infrastructural development expert with extensive experience in credit risk management, banking, capital markets, credit rating systems and fintech development. He has pioneered the establishment of Hong Kong’s first local credit rating agency and credit bureau, two corporate credit bureaus in Mainland China, and a Hong Kong virtual asset consortium. He has also developed quantitative rating methodologies for both traditional credit and emerging asset classes, including tokens, crypto exchanges, corporate and personal ESG metrics and carbon credit systems.
After leaving banking, Albert joined TransUnion as Head of Business Development for Greater China, leading strategic growth initiatives. He later founded Nova Credit and served as Chief Architect and Head of Corporate Strategy, with the objective of transforming the personal credit reference landscape in Hong Kong. He also played a pivotal role in establishing a corporate bureau in Guangzhou and Guangxi.
Most recently, Albert advised Fulum Group (1443.HK), a leading F&B operator with over 110 restaurants, where he established the group’s treasury function, re-engineered budgeting processes, and facilitated strategic partnerships with Chinese state-owned enterprises. He also serves as a consultant to Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holding Group, a Fortune 500 company, advising on Middle East and North Africa expansion strategies using Hong Kong as an international financial hub.
Albert is deeply committed to advancing Hong Kong’s financial infrastructure and actively promotes cross-border financial collaboration between the Greater Bay Area and ASEAN, fostering greater regional connectivity. A native Cantonese and Mandarin speaker fluent in English, he combines technical rigour with a strong understanding of Mainland Chinese clients’ commercial and cultural perspectives, supporting clients in navigating cross-border wealth management, business establishment and family office structuring.
